Registrations are open for Marabana Havana Marathon 2023, next November 19th

  • The 37th edition of the great Cuban sports event will be held on Sunday November 19th.
  • Registration for international participants are already available through the official website of the race. 
  • With the AIMS/WA certification, the Cuban marathon stands out for the high number of runners coming from other countries, which in 2022 exceeded 63 nationalities.
  • This 2023 edition, is dedicated to Mexico.

07.03.2023 – Cuba will once again experience its great running festival on November 19th . The weekend of the 18th and 19th of November, Havana will once again shine to celebrate one of the most important days of Cuban sport. As years pass by, the Marabana – Havana Marathon brings together thousands of runners from all over the island and numerous participants from other countries, making it an international event. Moreover, this mythical race through the Cuban capital represents the most important sports day on the Caribbean island, the same day on which the Day of Physical Culture and Sport in Cuba is also celebrated.

Marabana, the most important sports day on the island

The Havana MarathonMarabana 42k will represent a turning point in the history of this emblematic race. A 37th edition that will be very special, as both national and international athletes will be able to meet again with this race, which in 2022 was held again in person, the most important sports festival in the Caribbean country.

The circuit: a major tourist attraction

The circuit through which the Half Marathon and Marathon will run is certified by the AIMS/WA. The race runs through the most iconic places of the Cuban capital, those that captivate its visitors.

The Half Marathon has a distance of 21.097 km, in a circular route starting and finishing in the same place Sala Ramón Font. The Marathon distance will run two laps of the route, covering a final distance of 42.195 km.

The start and finish line is at the Ramón Font Hall, with a route that runs through the following streets and avenues: Independencia Ave., Salvador Allende (Carlos Tercero) Amistad, Dragones Prado, Animas, De las Misiones Ave. De los estudiantes, Malecón, Calzada, 12th Street, 23rd Street, 26th Avenue, Boyeros, Santa Catalina, Primelles, Vía Blanca, Independencia Avenue (Boyeros) and 19 de Mayo “Sala Ramón Font, start and finish line”.

10k Circuit

Start and finish line at the Sala Ramón Font, with a route that runs through the following streets and avenues: Independencia Ave, Salvador Allende (Carlos Tercero) Amistad, Dragones Prado, Animas, Av. De las Misiones, Ave. De los estudiantes, Malecón turn and go back along Malecón to Dragones Prado, Amistad, Reina, Zapata, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, 19 de Mayo, Ave Independencia (Boyeros).

Four distances to choose from: Marabana 42k, Marabana 21k, Marabana 10k and Marabana 5k
La Marabana wants to involve everyone in its great sporting festival. For this reason, the event consists of four different distances. Through the event’s website, international participants can choose which of the distances they want to run: the full marathon through the centre of Havana, a half-marathon, a 10km race and a 5K race adapted from the 10K race.

AIMS certificate and approved marks
The Marabana is certified as a member of AIMS (World Association of Marathons and Long Distance Running). The Havana Marathon course, which starts and finises in front of the monumental Capitolio, is the only Cuban course officially certified as an international race registered with the AIMS. This homologation allows participants to establish official marks.
