A total of 6.000 athletes, 1.300 of them foreigners from more than 63 different nationalities, will face the most important race of the island. A historical number, with 20% more of foreign participants compared to the last edition. Very good news that confirm the internationalization of a race that receives every year the interest of more participants from all over the world.
Among them, we find runners from countries so different as Australia, Canada, China, Kirgizstan, Japan, Germany, United States, Ecuador, Nigeria, Norway, Thailand, Denmark, India or South Korea. Like this until reaching more than 60 countries that will be represented in Marabana, among them a group of 40 Spaniards.

The Cuban capital city will celebrate its marathon coinciding with the day of Physical Culture and Sports in Cuba and will also begin the sports activities of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Foundation of the Villa San Cristóbal de La Habana.
The organization of Marabana wants to pay tribute to Andarín Carvajal, a historical person of Cuban sport. To celebrate the 115th anniversary of the best result of a Cuban runner in an Olympic Games, his 4th position in the Marathon of Saint Louis 1904, participants are invited to bring a whistle in order to, together with the several volunteers of the race, play the whistle one minute before the start of the race, at 6.29am. Sport and Art will go together thanks to the reproductions that all the participants will receive of the work “Infinite Habana” of the prestigious Cuban artist Luis Miguel Valdés.
