Given the global pandemic generated by COVID-19 all over the world, the organization of the race has decided to celebrate its 34th edition virtually.
Marabana, to be celebrated next November 22, encourages all national and international runners to join and celebrate this day in which the social networks of the race will be the protagonists of the day.
Foreign runners who made their inscription through the official website of the event will be able to use their race number in the 2021 or 2022 edition of Marabana, according to their needs.
After having studied different options for the celebration of Marabana, due to the global pandemic that would make the normal celebration of the race next 22nd November unfeasible, the Direction of the race has made the decision to celebrate its 34th edition virtually. As it has already happened in other sport events all over the world, ensuring the safety and health of the participants have been a priority for the organization.
The social network Facebook of Marabana (@MaratonDeLaHabanaMarabana) will be the protagonist of the event on November 22. This will be the channel through which all those runners who wish it can join and celebrate the great day of Cuban sport par excellence. Likewise, the race can also be followed by Facebook through the group of Cuban runners @andarinescubanos, turning this date so important in the Cuban sports calendar into a meeting point of Cuban and international runners through social networks.
The Havana Marathon has gained international prestige, thanks, among other factors, to its certification as a member of the AIMS. This way, this homologation allows participants to get official records in the race. In addition, the race brings together, year after year, a bigger number of foreign participants, reaching 1,300 international runners in the last edition.
This time, the organization will offer the possibility to the runners who already have their race number, to postpone their participation to the edition of November 21, 2021 or, if the prefer, to the 2022 edition.
